Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few

I’m totally shocked and saddened by today’s news of the death of Spanish aerobatic pilot Alejandro MacLean while carrying out aerobatic training at his base in Casarrubios del Monte (LEMT). He was the only Spanish pilot racing in Red Bull Air Race and one of the key members of the small and family like Spanish aerobatics community, always eager to share a good fly pass and some talk with the aviation friends at Casarrubios, a great loss for the aviation community and Spain.
All my thoughts are with his family and close friends, rest in peace.

Your surroundings can make a photo especial, I find that one of the best things to do when you enjoy photography is to do some exploring around to find that magic photo or place to do a session. Not only can make your photos shine above others it also a great way to discover the world and enjoy it.
Yes, is the forgotten photo of the week!

I’m happy that Fillion (Nathan Fillion) has found success with “Castle.” It’s a fun show and he’s certainly fantastic with the banter and Unresolved Sexual Tension and mixture of charm and obnoxious behavior. But I watch an episode like this and it makes me realize how much more Fillion has to show that “Castle” doesn’t take advantage of, and that the role of Mal Reynolds absolutely did.
Alan Sepinwall - Couldn’t agree more, my thoughts for a long time.

So finally I bit the bait and got a Pentax 67, on my discharge I have to say it was quite a deal too, now I don’t have more formats to try and whatever happens I’m not buying more classic cameras. Hope to give my impressions on it soon, but so far I’m liking it, even its weight.
From now on I only accept presents ;)

When the subject in your unfocused background is the main action on your photo you take a big risk, but when it pays off like in this one you have a winner image. This screams racing excitement!! The photo of the week, go!!!!

Same here, certainly Michael Caine style and career has marked many people, me included, he is the British Steve McQueen at so many levels. Cockney King of Cool :)

The moment in photography is the most important variable, your subject can be awful, your composition out and the technical side suck completely. But if you capture something at the right moment nothing else matters, your photo is an instant success.
Such is the case with this photo, the sunset after the storm makes it unique, seizes the moment and then everything fits into place, composition and subjects, making it a perfect combination that instantly becomes a piece of art.
Grab your moment, make it my photo of the week.

Last Saturday I was at IWM Duxford on a “blitz” visit with some friends, the great atmosphere of the place and our common interest in aviation led us to enjoy a flight on Duxford’s resident De Havilland’s Dragon Rapide. This fantastic and memorable moment made me think about why this museum and the activities that take place on it are so important and especial.
From the moment you step in Duxford you realize how much effort is put into preserve the heritage and history remembrance, this is done proudly and without restrictions. British are proud of them and what they achieved, (so different from the situation in my country) they want to keep their history alive for the current and new generations so is not forgotten or changed. Knowledge and preservation is the only way to thank all those who lost their lives for their believes and their country, plus the best deterrent to not repeat our mistakes.
All that is invigorating for me and the reason why visiting Duxford is magical, which of course is amplified because of my love for aviation and UK.

I’ve had this in my to-post queue for longer than I can remember, and can probably come up with 100 slacktastic reasons why I haven’t posted it yet. And the only reason I hadn’t just given up and deleted it without ever posting it is because, well, it’s really good.
Air tends to have a certain delicateness to their music, where BMSR tend to be anything but delicate. Apparently, though, when you let BMSR remix an Air track, they manage to take the original and turn it into an almost completely different song that somehow still feels at once like both an Air song and a BMSR song. Now that’s a good remix.
“Now that’s a good remix” Agree!! Via tuneage.

I always avoid having small objects on the corners of the frame thinking that it ruins the framing, but seeing the results on this one has made me rethink that position. The photo of the week after the hiatus!!

Great example of a powerful unconventional portrait which shows how is not important to have your subject in front and on focus to make a compelling portrait. Although a little late, the photo of the week here @alvarito.org

I’ve carried it around and starred through it’s lens for a number of years now, but like me it was made in the 80s, along with neoliberalism, Zimbabewe and Chernobyl. The shutter crack has bitten off moments, often prosaic, unfocussed or overexposed; but I am always standing close behind it, one eye shut. Watching. A monologue about the analogue, a homage to film, a diatribe against digital – these themes write themselves (and have been written), but the object remains uncelebrated. Objects have been sentimentalised since the first rocks were shaped by (wo)man. Others have been worshipped. So why break the mould – I fucking love this object.

Photos can evoke different things to the viewer depending on their mood or experience, regarding of the real subject. This one is a perfect example of that, for me this highway bridge looks like a plane and I find it fascinating for that very reason, thus this one becomes instantly the belated photo of the week.
